O Captain My Captain
William Jefferson Clinton was my President, warts and all, and his interview (subscription required) yesterday with George Stephanopoulis goes a long way toward reminding me of why.

Why? Because Stephy gave him a free pass and let him lie? Because he didn't mention how hurricane relief didn't get rolling for weeks after Hurricane Floyd in 1999? Because they didn't mention how FEMA provided no help when over 700 people died in a heatwave in Chicago? Because he did nothing about global warming and let the Senate vote down Kyoto 97-0? Because he ignored warnings about terrorist threats and let Bin Laden go to Afghanistan? Because he lies about tax cuts to "the rich" that made the income tax more progressive and brought in more revenue?
Anon - is that last sentence you mentioned a bad thing? A more progressive income tax? And the notion that Clinton did less than GW Bush on Bin Laden is as inaccurate an implication as one can conceive of. One can argue about whether he was doing enough (though I doubt the political realities of the time would have allowed for much more) but he took vastly more action against him than GW did prior to 9/11.
Moon - did you have to say "warts and all"? ;)
